A leading global developer of label design software and label management systems had been using a technical authoring tool for many years, and had their current publications translated into various languages. In order to suit their current requirements, they decided to switch to a structured technical authoring tool Paligo.
They managed to migrate their user guides from the old system to the new system without any major problems. But when they were migrating translations to Paligo, they quickly found out that professional assistance was required.
Failing to migrate the existing translations would have resulted with the project budget being greatly exceeded. Time being of the essence, they were unsure that they would be able to find an agency that could not only produce quality translations, but also have solid technical and engineering skills to handle the migration technically. They were looking for an agency that they could trust and rely on.
This was when they approached a third party to ask if they knew of an agency who could assist them with solving this big problem. The third party, who already knew that we had been regularly working with Paligo with another high profile company for some time, recommended TTC wetranslate Ltd.
Once communication between TTC wetranslate and the client had been established, and after discussing what their requirements and objectives were, we created a roadmap so we could use the existing translation memories in Paligo.
We tested our various tools to see which would be most suited, as different tools can produce different segmentation of sentences, and we wanted to make sure that the one we used would offer the most matches and hence save time and costs.
The combined word count of their three manuals consisted of 190,638 source words, once the translation memory was applied to the documents it left just 8970 words for translation. The TTC wetranslate team was pleased that they were able to carry out the work within the client’s timeline and budget.
