We’re launching the 6th Translation Challenge at the University of Essex on 16th January 2019. This gives language students the opportunity to work on a real-life translation challenge and get a taste of what life as a translator is like.
To make this possible we need four elements:
An organiser – that’s us!
A university – we now have two, the University of Essex and Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir, Turkey.
Student translators – the students are both under-graduates and post-graduates studying translation.
A sponsor – to provide the challenge. This position is open!
If you’re interested in getting involved – or you know a company who might be – if any of these apply to you, you’re just who we’re looking for:
- Your website or marketing material needs translation into a number of other languages.
- You already operate overseas and want to expand into new countries
- You want to expand overseas, but have not yet decided which country to start with
- You have documentation that needs to be in other languages, whether this is a brochure, product information or something else.
To be a sponsor you will need to have a use for the translated material and be willing to join us for the launch on 16th January 2019 and for the final day when the winners are announced on 20th February 2019. That’s it!
Your company will be featured in all the marketing, by the University and by us. We’ll be contacting the press with this in mind. You’ll get the results from the winning team to use as you see fit – so, effectively, free translation services, worth several hundred pounds.
Your association with the university and the students can be a future valuable resource, if you wish to use it.
So the question is – are you up for the challenge?
Call us on 01245 216930 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested.
